After Elon Musk’s recent takeover of Twitter, he has decided to make the blue tick status paid for. Normally the tick shows that the user has been verified, a way to make sure that users know they are interacting with the real person rather than a fake account. Now though it looks like anyone can buy a blue tick for just $8 a month, meaning that it will be harder to tell the authenticity of the user and identify potential scammers.
Elon Musk has also fired over half the company staff since takeover including the entire human rights team causing people to be concerned about the future of the platform.
