It was recently reported that Manx Care will have to pay a £170,500 fine if it does not put suitable measures in place by 31st December following a data protection breach which involved the sharing of a patient’s confidential data.
An insecure email attachment containing the patient’s confidential health information was sent to several recipients. This is not the first time Manx Care have been put under the spotlight, it appears they were issued an enforcement notice over its handling of confidential data previously.
Manx Care have apologised for the significant failures and to those individuals whose data was breached.
