After the recent ongoing ransomware attack on the NHS’s software and services provider, doctors have said it could take months for the paperwork to be processed into the NHS database.  Advanced, a supplier for the NHS, has said that it could take up to another 12 weeks to get some services back online.

The criminal hackers took several services offline including patient check ins, medical notes and the NHS 111 service.  One doctor has said that it could take six months to catch up with the backlog of patient records which could be several hundred thousand once the service comes back online.  Doctors are currently emailing hospitals with digital photographs of patient notes.

Advanced have not said yet if they are negotiating with the hackers or not.  Normally hacker groups will ask for a ransom to be paid in Bitcoin, in order to unlock systems.
