Google have plans to run ads to educate people on fake news which will prevent many from falling for the manipulative content. The ads will be shown across YouTube, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook, the ads will be managed by Google Jigsaw which tackles online security dangers.

Google have said the ‘exciting’ findings show how social media can play an important part and actively help to prevent the spread of the disinformation.

They will also be shown in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland to combat fake news about Ukrainian refugees.

The successful experiment was carried out by students at Cambridge University, In the experiment, the ads were shown to 5.4 million people, 22,000 of whom were surveyed afterwards.
